The supranational, sovereign and agency market kickstarted 2023 Australia dollar issuance in the week ending 6 January 2023, with a handful of deals launching and pricing. Other parts of the market were more subdued, however Commonwealth Bank of Australia revealed plans to open the financial primary market, prepping a multitranche senior-unsecured deal.
The Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM) released an update on its 2022/23 issuance programme, with gross issuance of treasury bonds expected to be A$85 billion (US$57.6 billion), down from the initial A$95 billion estimate following the release of the federal budget on 25 October 2022.
New Zealand’s corporates will need to explain how their emissions targets contribute toward a 1.5-degree future climate scenario, according to the External Reporting Board’s recently published final mandatory reporting standards. Market participants say the changes make the reporting regime more forward looking and potentially more challenging, particularly for smaller companies.
